MLB Predictions: Will Twins knock off Blue Jays as underdog? 9/15/17

Royals vs Twins

Will the Twins knock off the Blue Jays tonight when the two teams meet at 8:10PM ET?

The Odds: Blue Jays vs. Twins, 8:10PM ET, Minnesota

According to oddsmakers, Minnesota is now a +104 money line underdog to pull off the upset tonight. That makes Toronto a -114 money line road favorite. As for the total, the number hit the board at 9.5 and that’s where it currently sits.

Blue Jays Starter: J.A. Happ

Happ allowed two runs in six innings of work in a victory over the Tigers on Sunday, which was his last start. Only one of the runs was earned, and Happ allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out nine. It lowers the left-hander’s ERA to 3.73, and it’s his eighth win of the season.

Twins Starter: Bartolo Colon

Colon gave up six runs and didn’t make it out of the second inning Sunday in a loss to the Royals. It was a dreadful performance. Colon didn’t have it in the start and Kansas City took full advantage. As fun as he is to watch because of his size and age, he’s really not an effective pitcher at this point, and you better have a very good defense behind him. His ERA is now 6.43, and his win-loss record sits at 6-12.

Our Prediction

Despite Colon’s issues, I still see a ton of value in Minnesota tonight. The Twins have won six of their last eight games overall and 11 of their last 13 at home. They’re also 6-1 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter and have taking eight of their last 10 home games when facing a team with a losing record.

On the other side, the Blue Jays are just 1-4 in their last five road games. They’re also 1-4 in their last five road games versus a right-handed starter. Finally, they’re 3-9 in Happ’s last 12 starts when facing a team with a winning record.

Friday MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins +104
