MLB Predictions: Will Royals vs. Giants fall under betting total? 6/13/17
Will the Royals and Giants fall under the betting total when the teams meet tonight at AT&T Park?
The Odds: Royals vs. Giants, 10:15PM ET, AT&T Park
According to oddsmakers, the Giants are -117 money line favorites to win tonight at home. That makes the visiting Royals +107 money line underdogs to pull off the upset. The total, meanwhile, opened at 8 and has been bet down to 7.5.
Pitching Matchup: Jason Vargas (KC) vs. Ty Blach (SF)
Vargas pitched five innings while allowing two runs last Wednesday in a win over the Astros. He has been one of baseball’s best pitchers this season for a Kansas City team that continues to struggle. Vargas is coming off his seventh career shutout heading into tonight’s matchup in San Francisco.
Blach finally had a dud. He allowed five runs over six innings in a loss to the Brewers in Milwaukee last Wednesday. Even though Ryan Braun was on the disabled list, Milwaukee had more than enough offense against the 26-year-old Blach, who is now 4-3 with a 3.64 ERA.
Our Prediction
A team like the Brewers that is stacked with dangerous right-handers will continue to give Blach issues. That’s not the Royals, who are 25th in wOBA against left-handed pitchers.
The under has cashed in four of the last five meetings between these two teams. It is also 5-1 in Blach’s last six home starts and is 4-0 in his last four outings after scoring five runs or more in their previous game.
On the other side, the under is 7-1 in Vargas’ last eight road starts. In his last 21 starts overall, the under is 16-5. Finally, in Kansas City’s last 14 games after scoring five runs or more in its previous game, the under is 10-4.
Tuesday MLB Prediction: Royals/Giants under 7.5
