MLB Predictions: Will the Royals top the Orioles in Baltimore? 7/31/17

Yankees vs Orioles

Will the Baltimore Orioles be able to hold off the Kansas City Royals when the two open their series tonight at 7:05PM ET in Baltimore? Here’s our MLB Predictions for this game.

THE ODDS

According to the latest oddsmakers, Kansas City is the slight favorite on the road, as the Royals are getting odds of -110 to win. The Orioles are listed with a money line of +100 to win at home, while the over/under total has been set at 10 runs. Kansas City has won all three meetings with the Orioles this season.

PITCHING MATCHUP

The pitching matchup for tonight has Danny Duffy (7-6, 3.56 ERA) on the mound for the Royals to face Ubaldo Jimenez (4-7, 6.93) of the Orioles. Jimenez has struggled most of the season and has lost his last three starts. He has 88 strikeouts with 46 walks and a 1.56 WHIP this season. Duffy has been alternating good starts with bad lately. He is coming off a good start against the Tigers where he allowed 1 run over 6.1 innings. On the season, Duffy has 79 strikeouts with 28 walks and a 1.27 WHIP.

ROYALS

The Royals come in pretty hot, winning nine of their last 10, including a series win at Boston this weekend. Kansas City is 55-48 overall and 25-25 on the road this season. KC is putting up 4.41 runs per game and allowing 4.41 per contest. Eric Hosmer has been leading the team with a .321 average, 20 doubles, 16 home runs and 55 RBI. Mike Moustakas is adding 30 home runs and 69 RBI.

ORIOLES

The Orioles are coming off back-to-back win in Texas this weekend. The Orioles are now 50-54 overall and 30-21 at home. Baltimore is averaging 4.64 runs per game this season while allowing 5.34 per game. The Orioles are being led by Jonathan Schoop, who is hitting .305 with 27 doubles, 24 home runs and 76 RBI. Trey Mancini is adding 17 home runs and 56 RBI while hitting .299.

MLB PREDICTIONS

I like the Royals to stay hot tonight. While Duffy has been inconsistent, a bad outing for him would still be a pretty good one for Jimenez. I don’t see Ubaldo having a good outing against a KC team that is starting to heat up at the plate. The Orioles also don’t have the bullpen help for Jimenez that KC can offer Duffy.
