Will the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks and win their sixth consecutive game tonight at 8:40PM ET?
The Odds: Diamondbacks vs. Rockies, 8:40PM ET, Coors Field
According to oddsmakers, Colorado is -150 money line favorites to win tonight. Arizona, meanwhile, is a +123 to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number hit the board at 12 but has been bet down to 11.5.
The Pitching Matchup: Taijuan Walker (AZ) vs. Jeff Hoffman (COL)
Walker enters play tonight with a 5-3 record, a 3.32 ERA, and a 1.30 WHIP. He has earned victories in his last two outings, including in his last performance when the Diamondbacks beat the Tigers 2-1 in Detroit. In that game, Walker pitched five innings of one-run ball while allowing six hits and striking out six. One knock on Walker: He hasn’t pitched deep into games this season. The only time he has gone behind six innings was in an April 27 start against the Padres when he pitched eight frames.
As for Hoffman, he’s 4-0 on the season with a 2.25 ERA and 0.94 WHIP. He took the no-decision in his last outing, pitching five innings of one-run ball against the Giants. Hoffman allowed seven hits while walking three and striking out two. Colorado is now 5-0 in Hoffman’s last five outings.
Our Prediction
The Diamondbacks have had issues against the Rockies, losing five of their last seven games versus Colorado. The Rockies have also won 13 of 16 overall and seven straight at home. They’re also 11-1 in their last 12 games following a win and are 5-0 in their last five home games when facing a right-handed starter.
Furthermore, the Rockies have won 21 of their last 28 games versus National League West rivals. They’re a good bet at home tonight with Hoffman on the hill.
