MLB Predictions: Will Padres knock off Giants on Tuesday night? 8/29/17

Angels vs Padres

Will the Padres knock off their National League West rivals the Giants tonight when the division mates meet at 10:10PM ET?

The Matchup: Giants vs. Padres, 10:10PM ET, Petco Park

According to oddsmakers, San Diego is a -116 money line favorite to win tonight at home. That makes San Francisco a -105 money line underdog. As for the total, the number now sits at 8.5 after being bet down from 8.

The Giants have been a horse crap team all season long and are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. That puts them at 53-80 on the year and 22-45 on the road. They’re currently 40 games back of the Dodgers for first place in the National League West and this season couldn’t end quickly enough for Bruce Bochy’s club.

As for the Padres, they’re better than the Giants but not by much. San Diego is just 57-74 on the season but does own a 33-31 record at home. The Padres are coming off four straight losses and are just 3-7 over their last 10.

The Pitching Matchup: Matt Moore (SF) vs. Luis Perdomo (SD)

Moore pitched well in his last start, limiting the Brewers to one run on five hits over six innings on August 23. He struck out six in that outing and walked two. He’s now 4-12 on the season and owns a 5.38 ERA over 149 innings pitched.

As for Perdomo, he pitched well in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on August 24 in St. Louis. In that outing, Perdomo went six innings, allowed tow runs on seven hits and struck out two. He’s now 6-8 on the year and owns a 4.84 ERA over 128 1/3 innings pitched.

Our Prediction

San Francisco is just 7-17 in Moore’s last 24 starts. The club has also dropped six of Moore’s last seven outings versus divisional opponents. The Giants have lost five of his last six starts coming off five days of rest as well.

The Padres, meanwhile, are 5-2 in Perdomo’s last seven home starts. They’re also 6-2 in his last eight outings versus a team with a losing record. They’re 4-1 in his last five outings coming off a quality start in his last appearance as well.

Tuesday MLB Prediction: San Diego Padres -116
