MLB Predictions: Will Mariners vs. Twins play over betting total? 6/14/17
In what has been a high-scoring series thus far, will the over cash again tonight when the Twins host the Mariners at 8:10PM ET?
The Odds: Mariners vs. Twins, 8:10PM ET, Target Field
According to oddsmakers, the Twins are -135 money line favorites to win tonight at home. That makes the Mariners +125 money line underdogs to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number hit the board at 10 but has been bet up to 10.5.
The Pitching Matchup: Sam Gaviglio (SEA) vs. Ervin Santana (MIN)
Gaviglio held the Blue Jays to just two runs (one earned) over six innings of work in the Mariners’ 4-2 win last Friday. He needed one more inning for the win, but it was another solid showing by the 27-year-old. He has a 2.79 ERA in five starts, which includes one relief appearance.
Santana, meanwhile, remains a dominant force. He pitched his third shutout of the year last Friday in a 4-0 win against the Giants. Santana has struck out just 63 batters in 90 innings but has as many shutouts in 2017 as he did the previous six years combined. He has the hot touch right now, going 8-3 with a 2.20 ERA thus far in 2017.
Our Prediction
These two teams have combined to score 44 runs in the first two games of this series. Perhaps with Santana on the mound there will be a course-correction tonight, but I’m not willing to bet on it. The over is now 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams.
The over is also 6-2-1 in Santana’s last nine starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game. In Minnesota’s last six home games, the over is also 5-0-1.
On the other side, the over is 3-0-1 in the Mariners’ last four road games. It has also cashed in six of their last seven games versus American League Central opponents.
Wednesday MLB Prediction: Mariners/Twins over 10.5
