MLB Predictions: Will Indians vs. Red Sox go over betting total? 7/31/17

Red Sox vs Phillies

Will tonight’s Indians and Red Sox game go over the total for bettors when they open a new series at 7:10PM ET in Boston?

The Matchup: Indians vs. Red Sox, 7:10PM ET, Fenway Park

Cleveland has won nine of its last 10 games, is 57-46 on the year, and has a solid record on the road at 29-22. Boston, meanwhile, has dropped seven of its last 10 to fall to 57-49 on the season. The Red Sox still have a stellar home record at 30-20.

According to oddsmakers, Cleveland is a -114 money line favorite to win tonight on the road. That makes Boston a +104 money line underdog to pull off the upset at home. As for the total, the number sits at 10 runs.

The Pitching Matchup: Mike Clevinger (CLE) vs. Doug Fister (BOS)

Clevinger is 5-3 on the year and owns a 3.20 ERA. His last start resulted in a no-decision, as he allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings of work. Clevinger also struck out five and walked two in the Indians’ 11-7 win over the Angels.

As for Fister, he has yet to earn a win on the season. He’s 0-5 and owns a 7.46 ERA, which includes both starts and relief appearances. In his last outing, Fister allowed two runs on three hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief work. He struck out three but walked two.

Our Prediction:

In the Indians last 11 games versus the American League East, the over is 7-3-1. The over is also 5-2-1 in Cleveland’s last eight road games and is 3-1-1 in the Tribe’s last five games when they open a new series.

On the other side, the over is a perfect 5-0 in the Red Sox’ last five games when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous game. The under is actually 5-1-1 in the last seven meetings between these two teams but with Fister on the mound, I think the Indians and Red Sox buck that trend tonight.

Monday MLB Prediction: Indians/Red Sox over 10
