MLB Predictions: Will Giants vs. Brewers be high-scoring? 6/5/17

Brewers vs Cubs

Will tonight’s 7:40PM ET matchup between the Giants and Brewers be high-scoring at Miller Park?

The Odds: Giants vs. Brewers, 7:40PM ET, Miller Park

According to oddsmakers, the visiting Giants are -120 money line favorites for tonight’s game. That makes the Brewers +110 money line underdogs to pull off the upset. As for the total, the number currently sits at 8.5 runs.

Pitching Matchup: Jeff Samardzija (SF) vs. Junior Guerra (MIL)

Samardzija allowed three earned runs while taking a loss Tuesday against the Nationals. He surrendered nine hits, walked zero batters and produced five strikeouts over four innings. He needed 100 pitches to record 12 outs, so it wasn’t the right-hander’s most effective outing. That said, before that dud, Samardzija had five quality starts over his previous six outings.

Guerra, meanwhile, kept the Mets scoreless for six innings in a 7-1 win on Wednesday. New York managed just four singles against Guerra in the game. He struck out four batters and walked three in the outing. Guerra has now allowed just one run in 11 2/3 innings of work in his two starts since being activated from the disabled list.

Our Prediction

The over is 4-0 in the Giants’ last four games when their opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game. The over is also 5-2-2 in San Francisco’s last nine road games versus a team with a losing home record. The Giants’ bats were hot in Philadelphia and should remain hot in hitter-friendly Miller Park this week.

On the other side, the over is 17-8 in the Brewers’ last 25 games following a win. The over is also 20-6 in Milwaukee’s last 26 games when its opponent allows five runs or more in its previous game. Furthermore, the over has cashed in six of the Brewers’ last seven games played on Monday.

Monday MLB Prediction: Giants/Brewers over 8.5
