MLB Predictions: Will Giants & Phillies fall under the betting total? 6/2/17
Will the Giants and Phillies matchup tonight at 7:05PM ET fall under the betting total?
The Odds: Giants vs. Phillies, 7:05PM ET, Citizens Bank Park
According to oddsmakers, the Phillies have -116 money line odds to beat the Giants tonight. That makes San Francisco a -105 money line underdog to pull off what would be a small upset. The total, meanwhile, currently sits at 8.5 runs.
The Pitching Matchup: Ty Blach (Giants) vs. Jerad Eickoff (Phillies)
Blach is coming off yet another strong outing. He allowed just two earned runs, six hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings in a win against the Braves last Saturday. He also went 2-for-3 at the dish, notching an RBI in the process. Blach has turned in quality starts and wins over three excellent outings. He’s now 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA during that span.
Eickhoff allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings while taking a no-decision against the Reds last Saturday. He allowed a two-run home run to Zack Cozart in the first inning, but then kept Cincinnati off the board until the sixth. He now has five losses and a 4.74 ERA, with 51 strikeouts over 57 innings.
Our Prediction
The over has hit in five of the last six meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia. The over has also cashed in nine of the last 12 meetings overall.
That said, neither of these teams can hit a lick, so I’m not rolling the dice on the over.
The under is 6-2-1 in Blach’s last nine starts overall. The under is also 3-1-1 in the Giants’ last five games versus a right-handed starter. Futhermore, the under is 3-1-1 in the Phillies’ last five home games and 7-2-2 in Eickhoff’s last 11 starts after scoring two runs or less in their previous game.
Friday MLB Prediction: Giants/Phillies under 8.5
