MLB Predictions: Will Dodgers stay red-hot, beat Mets’ deGrom? 8/4/17
Will the Dodgers win Yu Darvish’s debut when they visit Jacob deGrom and the Mets tonight at 7:10PM ET?
The Matchup: Dodgers vs. Mets, 7:10PM ET, Citi Field
Los Angeles has won nine of its last 10 games after winning a series in Atlanta earlier this week. Their win last night helped improved the Dodgers’ season record to 76-32. They’ve been an excellent road team this year, posting a 29-19 record away from Dodger Stadium.
New York, meanwhile, has dropped six of its last 10 games to fall to 49-57 on the road. The Mets have not been a great home bet either this season, posting a 25-28 record at Citi Field.
According to oddsmakers, the Dodgers are -133 money line favorites to win tonight on the road. That makes the Mets +110 money line underdogs to pull off the upset at home. With Darvish set to face deGrom in the pitching matchup, the total is sitting at 7.5 after opening at 8 runs.
The Pitching Matchup: Yu Darvish (LAD) vs. Jacob deGrom (NYM)
Darvish lost his last start as a member of the Rangers on July 26 against the Marlins. He pitched just 3 2/3 innings, allowing a whopping 10 earned runs on nine hits. That loss dropped Darvish’s record to 6-9 and inflated his ERA to 4.01.
deGrom is also coming off a loss, a 3-2 defeat against the Mariners in Seattle. That said, he’s still 12-4 on the year and owns a dazzling 3.29 ERA. In that start versus the Mariners, deGrom allowed three runs on five hits while striking out 10 and walking only one.
Our Prediction:
The Dodgers have won 42 of their last 52 games and are 19-7 in their last 26 games on the road. They’ve also beat up the National League East, winning 37 of their last 52 meetings with the division.
On the other side, the Mets are just 6-13 in their last 19 home games versus Los Angeles. They’re also just 1-4 in their last five games overall and have dropped four of their last five games versus National League West opponents.
