The Pitching Matchup: Chase Anderson (MIL) vs. Robbie Ray (AZ)
Anderson is coming off an excellent start against the Giants on Tuesday. He shut San Francisco out over 7 2/3 innings to improve to 5-1 on the season. He hasn’t allowed a run over 21 2/3 innings in his last three starts. Anderson struck out just four batters but had registered 18 in his previous two outings so it’s not as if his K rates are down.
Ray, meanwhile, allowed one earned run on three hits in a win on Tuesday against the Padres. In his 6 2/3 innings of work, Ray walked two and struck out 11 batters. He threw 67 of his 108 pitches for strikes while lowering his ERA for the fourth consecutive outing. The 25-year-old is now 4-0 with a 0.30 ERA over his past four outings. During that span, he’s allowed 11 hits while walking five with 36 strikeouts over his past 30 1/3 innings.
Our Prediction
The Brewers have dropped five of their last seven games in Arizona despite earning a victory on Friday. They’re also just 6-13 in Anderson’s last 19 starts versus a team with a winning record.
On the other side, the D-Backs have won four of their last five games overall. They’re also 36-16 in their last 52 home games and have won all four of Ray’s last four starts. They’re also 6-2 in his last eight outings following a quality start in his last appearance.
