MLB Predictions: Is total set too high in Royals-White Sox tilt? 4/24/17
The Spread Experts’ MLB Predictions Series continues on Monday night with an American League Central tilt between the Royals and White Sox at 8:10 p.m. ET.
The Odds
Oddsmakers currently list the Royals as -110 money line favorites to win tonight in Chicago. That makes the White Sox a +100 home underdog, as they send Miguel Gonzalez to the mound to oppose Jason Vargas. As for the total, the number sits at 7.5 runs, down from the original number of 8.
The Pitching Matchup
Vargas has been sensational through three games to start the season. He has posted three quality starts, allowing just one earned run over 20 2/3 combined innings. Vargas scattered four hits while pitching seven scoreless innings versus the Giants on Wednesday. He out-pitched Madison Bumgarner, striking out nine while lowering his ERA to 0.44 on the season.
Gonzalez is off to a fine start as well, posting a 2-0 record in his first three games. He allowed one run on four hits over 8 1/3 innings in Tuesday’s 4-1 win over the Yankees. He struck out four and walked one while lowering his ERA to 2.84. In the win over the Yankees, he needed just 88 pitches to work through his 8 1/3 innings.
MLB Predictions
I love the under in tonight’s matchup. The under is 12-3-1 in the Royals’ last 16 games overall and has cashed in all four of Kansas City’s last four games overall. The under has also been a great bet when Vargas toes the rubber, cashing in 10 of his last 11 starts overall. It’s 4-0 in his last four road outings as well.
Not only has the under hit in Royals’ games, but the under is 5-0-1 in the White Sox’ last six home games as well. The under is 11-3-1 in Chicago’s last 15 games overall and is 4-1 in Gonzalez’s last five outings when he faces an opponent with a losing record.
