As for the Mets, they’ve dropped seven of their last 10 and are now 41-49 on the season. New York also owns a losing record on the road this year at 21-26.

The Pitching Match Up: Michael Wacha (STL) vs. Rafael Montero (NYM)

Wacha is 6-3 on the year and enters play tonight with a 4.10 ERA. In his last start, which came on July 6 against the Marlins at home, he pitched 5 2/3 innings and earned a win. Wacha allowed two runs on six hits while striking out nine and walking two.

As for Montero, he enters play with a 1-5 record and an unsightly 5.77 ERA. He pitched against the Cardinals on July eighth in St. Louis but his last start came back on July 2 versus the Phillies. In that outing, Montero allowed four runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings of work. He took the loss in that performance.

Our Prediction

The Cardinals have not been a great play for bettors coming off a win. In their last six opportunities following victory, they’re just 1-5. They’re also 5-11 in their last 16 road games versus an opponent that owns a losing record and 6-14 in their last 20 road games when facing a right-handed starter.

The Mets, meanwhile, Are 4-1 in Montero’s last five games coming off nine or more days of rest. They’ve also won 17 of their last 25 games when they face a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

Tuesday MLB Prediction: New York Mets +105
