MLB Prediction: Will the Rangers upset the Indians in Cleveland? 6/28/17
Who will take the rubber match when the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers collide once again tonight at 7:10PM ET? Here’s our MLB Prediction for this AL Central clash.
THE ODDS
According to the latest oddsmakers, the Indians are favored at home, as they are getting odds of -120 to win, while the Rangers are getting a money line of +110 to win. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 9 runs.
PITCHING MATCHUP
The pitching matchup tonight features Yu Darvish (6-5, 3.12 ERA) on the mound for the Rangers to face Trevor Bauer (6-6, 5.53) of the Indians. Darvish had a strong showing against the Yankees last week, going seven scoreless with 10 strikeouts and no walks. He has 109 strikeouts on the season with 36 walks and a 1.07 WHIP. Bauer hasn’t been awfully lately, but he has given up 13 runs in his last four starts. On the year he has 93 strikeouts with 31 walks and a 1.43 WHIP.
RECORDS
After Cleveland rallied to beat Texas 15-9 on Monday night, Texas responded Tuesday night with a 2-1 win. Cleveland has still won four of five meetings with Texas this season. The Indians are now 40-36 overall and 16-21 at home. Texas is 39-38 overall and 17-21 on the road.
TUESDAY’S RECAP
Tuesday saw a great pitching matchup, as the two teams were held to a combined six hits. Both Mike Clevinger and Tyson Ross each went six innings and allowed one run on two hits. The game came down to the bullpens. Texas held Cleveland scoreless while Cody Allen gave up a solo home run to Adrian Beltre in the ninth, giving Texas the win. Robinson Chirinos added a solo home run for Texas as well.
MLB PREDICTION
Outside of Monday’s surge, Cleveland hasn’t been hitting the ball all too well lately. That doesn’t seem like a good recipe against the likes of Darvish, who is coming off a great outing. I like Darvish and trust him to do well much more than Bauer right now. Bauer has been consistent at giving up runs. Go with Texas as the slight underdog today.
MLB Prediction: Texas Rangers +110
