MLB Prediction: Will the Astros pitch past the Orioles again? 5/27/17
Will the Baltimore Orioles continue their skid today when they face the Houston Astros and their ace tonight at 7:15PM ET? Here is our MLB Prediction for today’s game.
THE ODDS
According to the latest oddsmakers, the Astros are the favorite at home today, as they are getting odds of -170 to win. The Orioles are listed with odds of +150 to prevail, while the over/under total for the game is listed at 8.5 runs.
PITCHING MATCHUP
The pitching matchup for today has Dallas Keuchel (7-0, 1.84 ERA) on the mound for Houston to face Wade Miley (1-2, 2.59) of the Orioles.
Keuchel has been dominant this season and Houston is 8-1 in his nine starts this season. He has allowed just 13 earned runs and 41 hits in 63.2 innings of work. He has 54 strikeouts with 14 walks and a WHIP of 0.86. Miley has also been pretty good on the mound as well, allowing just 14 earned runs over 48.2 innings of work. He has 49 strikeouts, but also has 28 walks and a WHIP of 1.44.
RECORDS
Houston opened the series on Friday with a 2-0 win. The Astros have won seven of their last eight meetings with Baltimore now. The Orioles have now lost five straight. They are 25-21 overall and 10-14 on the road. Houston is 33-16 overall and 18-10 at home.
FRIDAY’S RECAP
Friday’s game saw another Houston starter, Joe Musgrove, pitched quite well. He went seven innings and allowed just four hits with six strikeouts and no walks. The Houston bullpen then went two scoreless innings to lock down the victory.
The Astros got their two runs on a pair of solo home runs from Carlos Beltran and Jake Marisnick. Kevin Gausman lasted 6.2 innings on the mound for Baltimore, giving up the two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
MLB PREDICTION
Baltimore got the pitching it needed to win on Friday, but the hitters couldn’t come through. That should be the case again today. Miley has been solid on the mound, but he probably isn’t going to be able to best Keuchel.
The Houston ace has been dominant thus far and the Astros are winning nearly every time he toes the rubber. Combine that with this game being at Houston, and I just don’t see how the Astros come up short.
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -170
