Dodgers’ Kershaw strikes out seven in win over Brewers
Clayton Kershaw allowed two runs on five hits over six innings in Thursday’s win over the Brewers. Nothing spectacular, here, but Kershaw got the job done well enough. He finished his evening’s work having struck out seven and walked two while throwing 98 pitches (67 strikes) across six frames. Christian Yelich scored both of the runs on the ace southpaw’s line, touching home on a wild pitch in the first inning and later touching up Kershaw for a solo home run in the fifth inning. With this one in the books, Kershaw will bring a 2.55 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 98/19 K/BB ratio (95 1/3 Inning) into a road date with the A’s when he next summits the mound.
Fiers to make A’s debut on Wednesday
Mike Fiers will make his A’s debut on Wednesday in Oakland against the visiting Dodgers. Oakland acquired the 33-year-old right-hander in a waiver trade on Monday from the Tigers after nearly landing him on the day of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Fiers had a 3.48 ERA, 1.235 WHIP, and 87/26 K/BB ratio in 119 innings (21 starts) this season with Detroit. He’ll continue to have fantasy streaming appeal in the right matchups with his new team.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 4-1 in their last five road games.
Oakland
The A’s are winless in their last four games versus National League West opponents.
Prediction:
Despite their loss last night, the A’s have dominated the Dodgers in previous meetings. They’re 8-1 in their last nine home games against L.A. and 7-3 in their last 10 games overall versus the Dodgers. The A’s have been great at home as well, winning 14 of their last 17 games played in Oakland and are 36-16 in their last 52 games overall. Even though Kershaw will take the hill for the Dodgers, I like the dog here.
The Pick: Oakland A’s +150
