Public Betting Trends

Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Twins as a -118 favorite. As of this writing, 60% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Twins to beat the Cardinals on the moneyline.

Astros’ McCullers impressive in road win vs. A’s

Lance McCullers allowed two earned runs, five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over seven innings in a road win against the Athletics on Tuesday. McCullers threw 59 of his 97 pitches for strikes, including 18 first-pitch strikes to the 28 batters he faced. He did uncork a wild pitch in the quality start, but he had it mostly on lockdown.

It was a refreshing change from his previous results on the road, as he entered the outing 4-2 with a 5.54 ERA in seven road outings, while going 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in six home starts.

Royals’ Keller merely fine in no-decision vs. A’s

Brad Keller allowed two earned runs, five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Sunday in Oakland. Keller hasn’t won in eight outings, but he continues to pitch pretty well. He still has an outstanding 2.31 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP over 35 innings, including three starts. Keller hasn’t been going deep into games, and he hasn’t won as a starter, but he is still giving his team a chance to win. However, fantasy owners will want to stay away until he builds up his pitch count and starts to go deeper into games.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros have won 72 of their last 107 games and are 4-1 in McCullers Jr.’s last five starts.

Kansas City

The Royals are 10-26 in their last 36 home games.

Prediction:

The over has been one of the best bets in baseball when the Astros play. It is 19-6-1 in their last 26 games overall. It is 12-3-1 in their last 16 road games. It’s also 6-0 in Houston’s last six games versus the American League Central. The over has been a great bet when these two teams meet as well, going 6-1-1 in the last eight meetings overall and 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings played at Kauffman Stadium.

The Pick: Astros/Royals over 9.5
