College Football Week 6 Predictions: Will Miami snap streak vs. FSU?

College Basketball Predictions

Miami hasn’t beaten Florida State in the past seven years. Will the Hurricanes finally snap that streak this afternoon in Tallahassee?

The Matchup: Miami (3-0) at Florida State (1-2)

The Hurricanes enter play with an undefeated record and are 2-1 against the spread in 2017. On the other side, the Seminoles are just 1-2 straight up and have failed to cover in each of their three games to start the season.

According to oddsmakers, the ‘Canes are 2.5-point road favorites to knock off the Seminoles. Miami opened as a 1-point underdog but the line jumped the fence. The spread reached as high as 3, but has dropped slightly to 2.5.

As for the total, the number currently sits at 45.5. The over/under hit the board at 47.5 but was bet down a full two points.

Miami Hurricanes

The Hurricanes should have running back Mark Walton today. The running back has been dealing with an ankle injury but is probable for today’s matchup. Defensive lineman Gerald Willis, meanwhile, is out for the year with a knee injury. Receiver Dayall Harris is also suspended for the season and linebacker Jamie Gordinier is out for the season due to a knee injury.

Florida State Seminoles

The big injury for Florida State is quarterback Deondre Francois, who is out for the season after suffering a knee injury against Alabama Week 1. But he’s not the only injured starter for the Seminoles. Offensive lineman Landon Dickerson is probable for today but is dealing with a foot injury. Linebacker Ro’Derrick Hoskins is also probable, but has a neck problem. Receiver Da’VBante Phillips, however, is out due to a suspension. There’s also a slew of backups that are questionable for today’s game.

The Pick

It’s time for Miami to end this streak. The Hurricanes are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games overall. They’re a perfect 6-0 against the number in their last six games following a win. They’ve covered in five of their last seven games on the road, as well.

Meanwhile, Florida State has struggled to move the ball with freshman James Blackmon under center. When the Seminoles do get inside the red zone, they’re not converting those drives into points. Even though Miami hasn’t been tested this year outside of a road win over Duke last week, this might be the best team Mark Richt has had at the U.

If not now for the ‘Canes, when?
