College Football Week 4 Predictions: Mississippi State vs. Georgia

Georgia vs Florida

Will Mississippi State pull off the upset between the hedges tonight when it takes on Georgia?

The Odds: Mississippi State at Georgia, 7:00 PM ET, Sanford Stadium

According to oddsmakers, Georgia is a 3.5-point favorite. Mississippi State opened as a 3-point underdog. The line climbed to 5.5 in favor of UGA, but then dropped back down.

As for the betting total, the number sits at 48. It opened at 50.

Mississippi State Betting Trends

The Bulldogs are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games played in September and 4-1 against the number in their last five games overall. They’re also 4-0 against the spread in their last four games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.

Georgia Betting Trends

The Bulldogs have failed to cover in five of their last seven home games. They’re also just 2-9 at the betting window in their last 11 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game. Finally, they’re 3-12-1 against the spread in their last 16 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous contest.

Our Prediction

MSU has scored 35 or more points in eight of its last 10 games dating back to last season. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is also coming off a strong performance versus LSU. He finished with 260 yards of total offense and scored a pair of touchdowns against the Tigers. Fitzgerald earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for that performance.

Mississippi State showed a week ago that it flew under the radar this summer. The Bulldogs are experienced, have an excellent quarterback, and won’t be intimidated playing between the hedges tonight. If they don’t bull off the outright upset, I like MSU to at least cover the spread.

College Football Week 4 Prediction: Mississippi State Bulldogs +3.5
