College Football Week 3: Will Louisville pull off upset vs. Clemson? 9/16/17
Can Louisville pull off the upset tonight against Clemson when the conference rivals square off tonight at 8:00PM ET?
The Odds: Clemson at Louisville, 8:00PM ET, Saturday
According to oddsmakers, the Cardinals are 3-point home underdogs versus the Tigers. As for the total, the number currently sits at 58. While the point spread hasn’t moved off the original number, the total hit the board at 59.5 before dropping to 58.
Clemson Betting Trends
The Tigers are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall and are 4-0 against the number in their last four games played in September as well. That said, they’re just 1-5 against the number in their last six conference games and are winless at 0-4 ATS in their last four games after scoring 20 points in their previous game.
Louisville Betting Trends
The Cardinals are just 1-4 against the number in their last five home games and have dropped five of their last six games overall. They’re also 1-6 at the betting window in their last seven home games versus a team with a winning road record.
Our Prediction
The Cardinals came up short a year ago in Clemson when a key drive stalled late in the game. But Lamar Jackson had his team in the game throughout. That was on the road. Tonight is at home. The Tigers’ defensive line is one of the best in football, but I have a gut feeling about Jackson.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner has matured as a passer. He no longer looks to run; he keeps his eyes downfield while hanging in the pocket. North Carolina is not Clemson defensively, but Jackson looked fantastic a week ago against the Tar Heels on the road. UL’s offensive line was dominated by two good fronts in Houston and LSU last season, but I like Jackson to overcome Clemson tonight and pick up a huge signature win.
