College Football Predictions: Will Wisconsin cover vs. Purdue? 10/14/17
Can No. 7 Wisconsin manage to run past Purdue at home when the two Big Ten opponents meet up later today at 3:30PM ET? Here’s our College Football Predictions for this game.
ODDS
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Wisconsin is the favorite at home, as the Badgers are getting odds of -17 points against Purdue. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 50 points. Wisconsin has won 10 straight in this series, covering the spread in nine of those 10 victories. Today’s game takes place from Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network.
WISCONSIN
Wisconsin is coming off a 38-17 win at Nebraska last week to move to 5-0 on the season. The Badgers are 2-0 in the Big Ten and 3-2 against the spread. Wisconsin is holding opponents to just 14.2 points and 273.8 yards per game this season. On offense, the Badgers are putting up 40.2 points and 461 yards per contest. Jonathan Taylor is leading the team with 767 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Alex Hornibrook is adding 1,011 passing yards and 10 touchdowns.
PURDUE
Purdue improved to 3-2 on the season last week with a 31-17 win over Minnesota at home. The Boilermakers are 1-1 in the Big Ten and 4-1 against the spread. Their lone failed cover was at home to Michigan. Purdue’s defense has been pretty good this season, allowing just 20.8 points and 374.8 yards per game. The offense is putting up 29.6 points and 401.4 yards per contest. The team uses two quarterbacks, as David Blough has thrown for 688 yards and seven touchdowns while Elijah Sindelar has 614 passing yards with six touchdowns. Tario Fuller is the leading rusher with 261 yards and two touchdowns.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS
Wisconsin has dominated this series over the last 10 years and I expect more of the same from the Badgers today. Wisconsin has won all but one game this year by at least 17 points. Their offense has been improving each week while the defense continues to be stingy. Purdue’s two-QB system isn’t likely to change that. The Boilermakers have been better defensively, but the combo of Taylor and Hornibrook should be too much. Wisconsin is 9-3-1 ATS in its last 13 Big Ten games and I see another cover today.
