College Football Predictions: Will Wake Forest cover vs. Clemson? 10/7/17

Will Wake Forest cover as a sizable road underdog today when it visits powerhouse Clemson at 12:00 p.m. ET?

The Matchup: Wake Forest (4-1) at Clemson (5-0)

The Demon Deacons enter play this week with a 4-1 straight up record and a 3-1 mark against the spread. The Tigers, meanwhile, are a perfect 5-0 straight up and a near-perfect 4-1 against the number.

According to oddsmakers, Clemson is a 21.5-point favorite this afternoon. Wake Forest opened as a 22-point underdog but the line was bet down slightly. The total, meanwhile, now sits at 47.5 points after hitting the board at 47.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Demon Deacons come into this game relatively healthy. The only player that has been ruled out is defensive back Traveon Redd, who is dealing with an elbow injury. Other than that, Wake will be at full strength this afternoon in Clemson.

Clemson Tigers

The Tigers are a little more banged-up. Tight end Cole Renfrow is out for the year due to a knee injury. Linebacker Logan Rudolph is also out for the season with a shoulder injury. Richard Yeargin is dealing with a neck injury that will keep him out the remainder of the season as well.

Cornerback Marcus Edmond (foot) is doubtful today with a foot injury and both tight ends D.J. Greenlee and Garrett Williams are questionable with knee injuries.

As previously mentioned, the only time the Tigers failed to cover this year was as a large home favorite following a big road win against a ranked opponent. Guess what? That’s the exact spot Clemson finds itself in today versus Wake Forest. The Tigers thumped Virginia Tech last Saturday night in Blacksburg and now returns home as a large double-digit favorite. I like Wake.

The Demon Deacons are a near-perfect 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games. They’ve also covered seven of their last nine games on the road and are 4-1-1 at the betting window in their last six games overall.
