College Football Predictions: Will Purdue upset Missouri in Week 3?
Will Purdue cover as a road underdog today when it takes on Missouri at 4:00PM ET?

The Tigers opened as 5.5-point favorites but the line climbed as high as 7.5 at most sports books. According to oddsmakers, Missouri is now a 6.5-point favorite to beat Purdue. As for the total, the number hit the board at 70.5 but jumped all the way to 77.
Purdue Boilermakers Betting Trends
The Boilermakers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games and are 9-4 at the betting window in their last 13 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. That said, they’re just 7-20-1 against the spread in their last 28 games coming off a win. They’re winless at 0-5 against the number in their last five games coming off a win of more than 20 points, as well.
Missouri Tigers Betting Trends
The Tigers are 7-2 at the betting window in their last nine games following a double-digit loss at home. They’re also 19-9 against the spread in their last 28 games following a loss. That said, they’re just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games in September. They’ve dropped eight of their last 10 games at the betting window overall, too.
Our Prediction
Purdue has improved in leaps and bounds offensively under new coach Jeff Brohm. Even though Elijah Sindelar and David Blough have split time under center, it has worked for the Boilermakers. Running back Tario Fuller has also been effective on the ground and Purdue is 9-for-9 scoring in the red zone with six touchdowns and three field goals this year.
Missouri, meanwhile, has had problems offensively, defensively, and on special teams in its first two games. The defense was atrocious in Week 1 against FCS opponent Missouri State and while Barry Odom’s D was okay last week versus South Carolina, the Tiger offense and special teams unit let them down in their first loss of the season.
I’ll take the points with Purdue. I simply don’t trust Missouri.
