College Basketball Predictions: Will Wichita State hold off Notre Dame?

Gregg Marshall

Tonight’s featured game is the championship of the Maui Invitational, where No. 13 Notre Dame takes on No. 6 Wichita State at 10PM ET. Here’s our College Basketball Predictions for this game.

ODDS

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Wichita State is the slight favorite in this game, as the Shockers are getting odds of -2.5 points against Notre Dame. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 152.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii. The game will air live on ESPN2.

WICHITA STATE

Wichita State is coming off an 80-66 win over Marquette last night to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Shockers are 2-1 against the spread so far. Wichita State is putting up 90.5 points per game on offense while allowing 67 points per game. Shaquille Morris is putting up 17.5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks per game while Landry Shamet is adding 17.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

NOTRE DAME

Notre Dame is coming off a dominant 92-53 win over LSU last night to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Fighting Irish are 2-1 against the spread, covering in last night’s win and against DePaul earlier this year. ND is putting up 89.2 points per game this season while allowing 59.8 per game. Bonzie Colson is leading the team with 19 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Matt Farrell is adding 18 points and 4.4 assists per contest.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS

Notre Dame won the last meeting with Wichita State in 2015, 81-70. That covered a 2-point spread as well. The Irish are 10-4 against the spread following a cover. Wichita State is just 7-17-1 ATS in their last 25 neutral site games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games. The public betting is backing Wichita State tonight, but I think the Irish find a way to cover in this one. ND has the talent to hang with the Shockers and more challenging competition regularly.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS: NOTRE DAME +2.5
