College Basketball Predictions: Will Michigan State upset Duke?
The two top teams in the nation meet up tonight when No. 1 Duke takes on No. 2 Michigan State at 7PM ET. Here’s our College Basketball Predictions for this game.
ODDS
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Duke is favored in tonight’s contest, as the Blue Devils are getting odds of -2 points against Michigan State. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 157 points. Tonight’s game takes place from the United Center is Chicago, Illinois as part of the State Farm Champions Classic. The contest will air live on ESPN.
DUKE
Duke is off to a 2-0 start thanks to a 97-68 win over Elon and a 99-69 win over Utah Valley. The Blue Devils have covered the spread in the lone lined game they have played in. Marvin Bagley III is averaging 24.5 points and 10 rebounds per game to lead the team thus far while Grayson Allen is averaging 20 points per game. Trevon Duval is adding 11.5 points and 10 assists per contest.
MICHIGAN STATE
Michigan State opened the season on Friday, picking up a 98-66 win over North Florida as a 31-point favorite. The Spartans were young last year and struggled to find consistency, but returns nearly the whole team. In the season opener, Miles Bridges had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Jaren Jackson Jr. added 13 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks while Nick Ward chipped in 16 points.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS
Duke has won six straight meetings with Michigan State, but this may be the best Spartan team the Blue Devils have faced. This time around it is Duke that is the young team, with eight freshmen on the roster. I think the Spartans will take their learning experiences from a year ago and turn it into some big wins this year. They have added a strong freshmen class to their already strong sophomore class and should be one of the best in the country. The public betting is siding with Duke, but I like the Spartans tonight.
