College Basketball Predictions: Can Michigan upset Texas? 12/12/17
Which un-ranked team will pick up a big win tonight when Texas plays host to Michigan at 9PM ET? Here’s our College Basketball Predictions for this game.
ODDS
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Texas is the favorite in this game, as the Longhorns are getting odds of -5 points against Michigan. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 129.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas and will air live on ESPN2.
MICHIGAN
Michigan is coming off a 78-69 OT win over UCLA this past weekend, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the second half. The Wolverines are now 8-3 on the season, but all three losses came on the road or at a neutral court. Michigan is 5-5 against the spread this season, but have covered in five of their last seven. The Wolverines are scoring 72.9 points per game on offense while giving up 63.8 per contest. Mortiz Wagner is leading Michigan with 16.1 points and 8 rebounds per game while Charles Matthews is adding 14.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
TEXAS
Texas is coming off a 71-67 win at VCU last week to improve to 6-2 on the season. The Longhorns have had both of their losses come in OT against Duke and Gonzaga on a neutral floor. Texas is just 1-3 against the spread this season. The Longhorns average 78.2 points per game on offense while allowing 63.8 per contest. Texas has been led by Andrew Jones, who is averaging 15.3 points per game. However, a wrist injury has him out indefinitely. Dylan Osetkowski is adding 14 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL PREDICTIONS
Michigan has won three straight meetings between these two, going 2-1 against the spread in those three games. I would like Texas normally in this game, but Jones being out really has me feeling Michigan is going to be at least cover, if not win. Michigan is 8-3 against the spread in its last 11 against Big 12 opponents. The public betting is backing Michigan slightly tonight and I tend to agree.
