Public Betting Trends
Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Indians as a -230 favorite. As of this writing, 71% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Indians to beat the White Sox on the moneyline.
Indians’ Carrasco strikes out 10 in win over Brewers
Carlos Carrasco allowed eight hits but only one run over seven innings Wednesday in the Indians’ win over the Brewers. He earned 10 strikeouts and walked just one batter over 109 pitches. Travis Shaw drove in the game’s first run on an RBI single in the third inning but that was all the Brewers would muster off Carrasco, who won for the seventh time this year.
The right-hander had some good fortune on Wednesday, lucking into a pair of inning-ending double plays. This wasn’t Carrasco at his most dominant, though he certainly showed Cy Young flashes in Wednesday’s triumph. He’ll be back at it Monday against the White Sox, who he has yet to face this year.
White Sox’ Giolito surrenders two runs in six innings
Lucas Giolito surrendered two runs in six innings Tuesday to defeat the Twins in the second game of a doubleheader. It’s not bad, but he still had just one strikeout, leaving him with a 31/39 K/BB ratio through 61 innings this year. Giolito would probably be in the minors right now if Miguel Gonzalez hadn’t gotten hurt. That’s not happening, though, so he’ll either face the Red Sox or Indians next time out.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 4-0 in their last four road games versus the White Sox. They are also 4-0 in Carrasco’s last four starts versus Chicago and are 13-3 in their last 16 games versus the White Sox overall.
Chicago
The White Sox have lost four of Giolito’s last five home starts and are 1-7 in his last eight outings versus a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
Giolito could blow up at any moment, especially versus one of the more dangerous offenses in baseball. That said, I still like the under Monday night. The under is a perfect 4-0 in Carrasco’s last four starts against the White Sox. The under is also 23-11-1 in Carrasco’s last eight starts overall. On the other side, the under is 10-3-2 in Giolito’s last 15 starts overall and is a near-perfect 8-0-1 in Chicago’s last nine games.
The Pick: Indians/White Sox under 9
