Public Betting Trends

Oddsmakers from online sportsbooks currently list the Cardinals as a -160 favorite. As of this writing, 72% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Cardinals to beat the Reds on the moneyline.

Reds’ DeSclafani works seven strong innings vs. Indians

Anthony DeSclafani worked seven innings of one-run ball Monday in a win over the Indians. DeSclafani scattered five hits and two walks while striking out three while moving to 4-1 in seven starts this season. The one run he gave up came on a Yonder Alonso laser-beam homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. The 28-year-old right-hander will bring a 4.43 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into his next start on the road against the Cardinals.

Cardinals’ Mikolas picks up 10th victory

Miles Mikolas cruised to his 10th win Tuesday, allowing two runs over six innings as the Cardinals crushed the White Sox 14-2. Mikolas coughed up an early two-run lead when he yielded a two-run single to Charlie Tilson in the third inning, but he settled back in after that and the Cards’ offense went to work. The right-hander yielded just three hits and a walk while whiffing six and probably wouldn’t gone at least one more inning if not for the lopsided score. Mikolas will have a final first-half tune-up Sunday against the Reds.

MLB Betting Trends

Cincinnati

The Reds are 4-1 in DeSclafani’s last five road starts.

St. Louis

The Cardinals are 9-4 in Mikolas’ last 13 starts.

Prediction:

The Reds have routed the Cardinals each of the last two nights as St. Louis has looked listless. The Reds are 6-1 in DeSclafani’s last seven starts versus the Cardinals, who have now lost six straight at home. Cincinnati is playing better, more inspired ball at the moment. I’ll roll with them again on Sunday.

The Pick: Cincinnati Reds +135
