Boxing Odds: How will Mayweather vs. McGregor end? 8/15/17
We are just a few weeks away from the anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor. How will the big fight conclude?
BOXING ODDS
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mayweather winning by KO, TKO or DQ is the favored finish, as it has -150 odds. Mayweather by decision is listed at +230 while McGregor winning by KO, TKO or DQ is +375. McGregor by decision is listed at +1600 while a draw or technical draw is listed at +3300. These two will meet on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 9PM ET from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs live on PPV.
MAYWEATHER
Mayweather is arguably the top boxer in history, going 49-0 with 26 wins by knockout. His last KO win was back in December of 2007, when he beat Ricky Hatton in the 10th round. Mayweather is known more for being a defensive fighter that likes to use his speed to counter. He hasn’t been known for being a real aggressive boxer for many years now. Will that change since he’s fighting a rookie in McGregor? Will he let his emotions get to him in the fight or will he be trying to prove a point?
McGREGOR
McGregor is making his boxing debut in this fight, against an undefeated fighter. He is a two-weight champion in the UFC and holds a 21-3 record in his MMA career with 18 wins by knockout. The gloves in boxing are much bigger than they are in MMA, but certainly McGregor believes that he can knock out Mayweather if he can land the clean punch. Mayweather has also had some struggles with southpaws, and McGregor is a southpaw. For McGreogr to pull off the upset, it seems likely it will have to be by stoppage. It’s hard to imagine he can out-box Mayweather for 12 rounds.
