Boxing Odds: Floyd Mayweather a -900 favorite vs. Conor McGregor 6/15/17

Boxing Odds

The kings of boxing and MMA will officially come together in the boxing ring as Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have agree to meet on Aug. 26. Here’s a look at the Boxing Odds for this clash.

BOXING ODDS

According to the latest oddsmakers, Mayweather is the clear favorite in this bout, as he is listed with odds of -900 to win. McGregor is being given a money line of +550 to win this contest. These two will meet on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in a 154-pound boxing match.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KO) is returning to action after being retired for two years. His last fight came in September of 2015 when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Andre Berto. Mayweather is largely considered the greatest boxer in history due to his unbeaten record.

Mayweather will be the smaller fighter in this bout, as the two agreed to a weight closer to where McGregor competes in MMA. However, experience is clearly on his side in this fight as his opponent has never had a professional boxing match. Still, the fans want this match thanks to the promotional ability of McGregor. The Irishman has been calling Mayweather out for years.

CONOR McGREGOR

McGregor is making his boxing debut in this fight, but has a 21-3 record in MMA with 18 knockouts. His last bout was in November of 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez by second-round TKO. That win made him the first UFC fighter in history to hold a championship in two different weight classes. McGregor has been the UFC Featherweight Champion (145 pounds) and UFC Lightweight Champion (155 pounds). He has shown a great amount of power in his strikes, but also is fighting MMA, where kicks and grappling can be mixed in.

The Irishman has boxing training, but has never faced anyone with the speed of Mayweather. McGregor is a southpaw, which has given Mayweather trouble in the past. The gloves will also be bigger than what he is accustomed to in the UFC, which could take away some of his power.
