Red Sox’ Sale allows one run while striking out 10 in loss

Chris Sale was dominant on Friday but took a loss nonetheless, fanning 10 and allowing one run in eight innings against the White Sox. He was outdueled by Dylan Covey. Trayce Thompson’s RBI-single in the seventh inning produced the only run on either side. Sale surrendered six hits and issued one base-on-balls in the quality start. He falls to 5-4 with a 2.83 ERA and 0.97 WHIP after 14 starts. He ranks third in the majors with 120 strikeouts in 89 innings.

Orioles’ Ramirez to start Wednesday vs. Red Sox

Yefry Ramirez will start for the Orioles on Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Ramirez was called up to the majors for one day back in June but did not make an appearance. This will be his MLB debut. The 24-year-old right-hander has decent swing-and-miss stuff, but this is a bad matchup. Ramirez is filling in for Andrew Cashner, who landed on the disabled list Tuesday with a lower back injury.

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are 4-1 in Sale’s last five starts against the rest of the American League East. They are 11-4 in his last 15 outings versus a team with a losing record.

Baltimore

The Orioles are winless in their last eight home games. They are also 23-66 in their last 89 games overall.

Prediction:

The Red Sox are a perfect 7-0 in their last seven games played in Baltimore and are 11-1 in their last 12 games versus the Orioles overall. They’re also a perfect 4-0 in Sale’s last four starts versus the Orioles. You’ll have to play the BoSox on the runline to avoid risk but they’re a safe bet today.

The Pick: Boston Red Sox -235
